The majority of models now expect the rain\/snow line to creep north of Allegheny County, limiting today’s snow totals. However, the storm is now moving slower than expected, allowing the nighttime cold air to produce more overnight snow than originally forecast.<\/em><\/p>\nThe last time Pittsburgh recorded more than a foot of snow was Snowmaggedon in February 2010, where the region saw more than 20 inches. While this weekend’s storm is not expected to be as historic in terms of total accumulation, it certainly will be remembered for its degree of forecast difficulty. As a word of caution, it is worth remembering that the forecasts the night before Snowmaggedon were largely calling for 6-12″ in Pittsburgh, missing what actually happened by nearly a foot.<\/p>\n
