Forecast Roundup for March 9-10 snowstorm

With buds on the trees and flowers sprouting, winter will make a triumphant return to Pittsburgh this weekend, beginning with accumulating snow Thursday night into Friday morning. A powerful wave of cold air will pound in western Pennsylvania tonight, bringing with it a decent amount of precipitation. While the beginning of the precipitation may fall as rain, the majority of the moisture will be snow. As ground temperatures cool from a mild day, the snow will begin to accumulate. The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory, warning of the potential for 3-5″ of the white stuff. Below are all the snow map forecasts from the outlets we track. Be sure to check back tomorrow evening, after the last flake has fallen, for our Forecast Analysis, which will impact each outlet’s newly-updated Forecaster Rating.
