Forecast Roundup for first snow of the season

Early Tuesday morning the first snow event of the season will arrive in Pittsburgh. Although it is expected to be light on accumulation, the frigid cold temperatures and strong winds coming with it will have a noticeable impact when you wake up. The blowing winds will make it hard for the snow to pile up in and around Allegheny County, with the significant snowfall in the mountains and off Lake Erie’s shore. Up there, lake-effect driven snow showers will pile up a foot or more of the white stuff.

Be sure to check back on Wednesday after the last flake has fallen for our Forecast Analysis, which will impact each outlet’s newly-updated Forecaster Rating.

Coming into this first snow of the season, our most trusted forecaster in the ratings is WTAE with 70.43% accuracy.
